“If you had a chance, would you leave Georgia for a certain period of time to live somewhere else?” According to Caucasus Barometer 2017, over half of the adult population of Georgia (55%) responded positively to this question.
Interestingly, residents of the capital and urban settlements showed more interest in temporary emigration, compared to the rural population. At the same time, those with higher than secondary education tend to say they would leave Georgia for a certain period of time to live somewhere else more frequently than those with secondary technical or lower than secondary education.
Caucasus Barometer is a household survey conducted by CRRC from 2008 annually and from 2013 biannually in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan (after 2013 the survey has not been conducted in Azerbaijan) and is representative for the adult population of these countries. Caucasus Barometer 2017 was carried out in Georgia from September 22 to October 10; overall, 2,379 respondents were interviewed.
