Legal and practical aspects of arbitration in Georgia

Project objective: The aim of the proejct is to identify factors contributing to the development of arbitration as well as factors deterring its development in Georgia, as well as outline recommendations for elimination of such challenges and for the promotion of greater use of arbitration in Georgia.
Research design: Desk research, key informant interviews, and in depth interviews. In depth interviews will be conducted with representatives of Arbitral Institutions in Georgia, private persons who have had experience with arbitration, business entities, and law firms and/or lawyers. Key informant interviews will be conducted with government entities, representatives of international organizations and members of the judiciary to understand their views of the issues surrounding arbitration.
Output:

Research report:

  1. Identifies the main trends in arbitration;
  2. Identifies factors contributing to as well as factors hindering the development of arbitration;
  3. Provides recommendations aimed at promoting the greater use of arbitration.
